In 2019 I was an artist-in-residence at the Aria Residency in Tehran, Iran. One of the photos I took was of the Teatr-e Shahr Metro Station, one of the metro stations one could use when you would travel to Enghelab Street. I already made an organza tapestry about the Utility Box on Enghelab Street, but I always wanted to make one more and show them together. The solo exhibition at Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle turned out to be the perfect moment and place to do so.
And here’s the result. The tapestry is made out of almost 50 metres of blue, dark blue, green and black organza and contains more than 300 metres of sewing thread and embroidery thread, and more than 1500 glass beads. The size of the tapestry is 350cm wide and 200cm tall.
